BWN functions on volunteer effort. Over one-third of the membership volunteers in some capacity. Participants find that committee involvement enhances their membership investment, enabling them to form closer relationships and achieve greater recognition within the group. BWN committees include: Hospitality, Marketing, Membership, Programs and Scholarship. A board director oversees each committee.
Faith Wachter, President
Faith is principal at Faith Wachter Consulting, providing social media marketing solutions for small businesses and nonprofits. Her +30 years of professional experience includes marketing, community relations, and education within both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. Her longest career stint was at Maryland Public Television, where she oversaw events, partnerships, grant writing, and marketing for community outreach initiatives. Originally a music educator, she earned 2 masters degrees in music education from Teachers College Columbia University. She draws upon that teaching background when delivering presentations, trainings, and workshops for national & local conferences. Currently, she teaches courses in social media marketing at Howard Community College. Faith enjoys cooking, dining out (she’s a former food blogger!), travel, and hiking with her husband and 3 kids.
Laura Kittleman, Immediate Past President
Laura is the owner of The Kittleman Group, a real estate business associated with Keller Williams and based in Howard County. Laura and her daughter and partner, Lisa Kittleman, have team of four and they attribute their success to their Clients First philosophy. The Kittleman Group has been the top team in the brokerage for many years and is consistently one of the Top Ten Keller Williams teams in the entire Maryland/DC Region. Laura's personal touch and high tech background, combined with a passion for exemplary customer service, is a proven winning combination. Her caring achieves results! Laura enjoys giving back to the community she loves - she grew up in Allview Estates and watched Columbia being built from the ground up. Laura is a graduate of UMBC with a BA in Psychology. She and her husband, Tom Yeatts, have three beautiful daughters. Laura loves to run, garden, paint, travel and spend time with her family and three sweet dogs.
Linda Ostovitz, Immediate Past President
Linda is a principal attorney in the law firm known as Offit Kurman. She brings to the firm 36 years of experience in litigation, mediation, and arbitration. She focuses her practice on family law, which includes divorce, custody, access, child support, alimony, property disposition, and pre-marital agreements. She holds a prestigious fellowship in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and is on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Columbia Patuxent Rotary Club and she is also on the planning committee for the Taste of Howard County, which benefits Gilchrist Hospice of Howard County. She was chosen as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women in 2014. Linda recently launched HoCo in the Know where she regularly posts legal blogs and events of interest she has attended. Linda is a graduate of the University of Baltimore.
Patricia Livingston, Treasurer
Patricia is a Vice President and Business Development Officer for M&T Bank in the Howard County market. She has specialized in Business banking and lending for over 22 years and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Lee University. Recently she enrolled in a Master’s Degree program with The University of Maryland University College focusing on Management and Human Resources.
In her downtime Patricia loves to cook; much to the chagrin of her husband Glenn, who would really like to just lose a few pounds. Patricia & Glenn live in Ellicott City with their 2 teenage boys, a Goldendoodle named Lily and 8 awesome egg-laying chickens (really!).
Katie Brandt, Secretary
Katie Brandt, owner of Altius Research and Consulting, is a Certified Professional Coach and Organizational Development Consultant with over two decades of experience supporting leaders and teams optimize their performance. She has worked with a variety of corporate clients (e.g., Accenture, Huron, Grant Thornton, Crowe Horwath) and nonprofits (e.g., Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, Head Start, Kids Hope USA). Ms. Brandt’s mission is to help cultivate healthy work environments so success and fulfillment are optimized.
Prior to starting her business in 2005, Ms. Brandt was a senior consultant for a Global Fortune 500 company. She has a master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Purdue University, and she lives in Ellicott City with her husband and two teenage daughters. She loves spending time with her family, playing games, reading, hiking, and swimming.
Nancy Buckley, Director of Scholarships
Nancy has been serving the accounting needs of clients for over twenty years. She became a partner at Hertzbach & Company, P.A. in 2016 when Coale, Pripstein & Associates joined the firm. Prior to becoming a partner at Hertzbach, Nancy has been in practice since 1995 and became a partner with Coale/Pripstein in 2008. Nancy has over 20 years of experience providing corporate and partnership income tax preparation and management advisory services to small and mid-sized businesses engaged in a diverse range of industries including construction contractors, professional service firms, and nonprofit organizations. In addition to assisting business owners and their businesses, she works with individuals and sole proprietors in tax planning, bookkeeping and personal income tax preparation including multi-state income tax returns. Nancy is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park. She is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA). In addition to assisting her clients, Nancy serves on the Archbishop Spalding High School Annual Fund Committee, which helps raise money for the students who attend ASHS. She is also a current board member of Bach in Baltimore.
Gabriella Colarusso, Director of Marketing and Communications
Gabriella has worked at FAI Wealth Management for three years in their Office Admin/Social Media & Marketing position. Gabriella has spent her time at FAI working on FAI’s website content and social media pages, executing client and staff events, creating marketing materials, and distributing client e-newsletters and e-blasts. Gabriella first supported BWN by joining their Marketing Committee in helping BWN’s outreach on social media, before joining the board. Gabriella received her bachelor’s degree in communications at Mount St. Mary’s University. She enjoys volunteering her time to make a difference. She is currently also on the board at HopeWorks of Howard County and believe strongly about giving back her time. Gabriella enjoys going on long runs, hiking, live music, and traveling.
Mary has been the store owner of Bra-la-la for ten years. Bra-la-la was recently awarded the best of intima award last summer for best customer service in North America. In her previous career, she was a biotech specialist for fifteen years selling to NIH, Johns Hopkins, university of Maryland and other medical institutes. She sold antibodies, enzymes,cytokines and growth factors to researchers. Prior to biotech sales, Mary worked at Georgetown University - Lombardi Cancer Center- in the Department of Pharmacology and Radiation Medicine doing breast cancer research. Mary resides in Ellicott City with her husband and two daughters.
Ashley graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Salisbury University’s Purdue School of Business in 2007. She began her career with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 2007. Drawing from her 10 year career with the company, Ashley obtained experience in both administration and management on multiple platforms via our Bank of America, N.A., Merrill Edge, and Wealth Management lines of business. Ashley joined the Halsey Collins Muller Group in February of 2017 with a focus on client strategy implementation, intergenerational planning, and managing the team’s workflow stream. With her dynamic background in the industry, Ashley brings a distinctive perspective to the team and what we deliver to our clients. Ashley and her husband, Steve, reside in Ellicott City, MD where they have two daughters.
Doris Walsh, Director of Membership
Doris is the Vice President at Gerald Walsh CPA, LLC, where she is Strategic Planning Partner with her husband, Gerry. Managing the accounting and staffing functions, as well as day to day management of the practice, is an “encore career” for Doris--quite a departure from her previous roles, including Professional Development at the Restaurant Association of Maryland. Holding a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland in Ornamental Horticulture, she is a nature girl and loves being outdoors. Doris is a long-time member and frequent speaker for the Howard County Beekeepers Association (as well as a Bee Ambassador). Doris has 2 grown children: a son who is a Stage Manager, and daughter who works in the developmental disabilities field.
